(Miscellany Monday is not a thing. It just popped into my head as a good title for this entry, were it on a Monday. I’m tired.)
- Nikki is better. Doctor says that it does sound like she had a migraine, but he’s betting she was coming off of a cold virus too. No flu. He didn’t think there was any need to do a strep test. He says there are treatments/medications to discuss if migraines become a regular thing, but we don’t need to jump to that after the first one. Which I’m glad to hear. He tends to be a bit condescending with every visit which BUGS ME TO DEATH, but his hesitation to prescribe medication makes me get over that. Our last Pediatrician prescribed antibiotics for EVERYTHING.
- I tend to only “promote” this blog on Facebook for things like Race Reports. Things that I think my local friends might get a kick out of reading, since almost all of my Facebook contacts are real world, local friends. I get nervous when my real-world friends read my blog because I worry they’ll think I’m weirder than they already do. Man…that girl talks about boob sweat a lot. And bullet journals. Weirdo. But, I like to put my race reports on there because most of my local friends are also my running friends. And after my 50K on Saturday? A few other real world friends posted my race report with complimentary comments and…y’all…I GOT ALL NERVOUS ABOUT IT. It was being spread around our running community and I often still feel like an imposter, like these people are going to send me home when the realize how dorky I really am. I mean, obviously they thought it was good or they wouldn’t have shared it, but…my words! Being read! By people other than my normal blog friends! EEK. #Dork.
- I don’t watch as much TV as I used to now that we are limited to Hulu/Netflix/Internet for our television. But – I’m still loving a lot of shows. The Good Wife, Arrow, Scandal, Parks & Rec and Glee are the ones I’m still watching but a few new faves are: The Michael J. Fox Show, Sleepy Hollow, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. For the record, that last one? The Andy Samberg show? I don’t even know why I turned it on in the first place because it does NOT appeal to me on paper but it CRACKS ME UP. I love it. What shows are you watching?
- I started using my Fitbit on November 1st and have eaten UNDER what I’ve burned every day since. The longest stretch of mindful eating I’ve ever had. Longest time I’ve avoided and anxiety-fueled or an exhaustion-fueled binge. Until yesterday. The exhaustion from a weekend of 50Ks and sick kids combined with general anxiety of life pushed me toward a 5000 calorie day yesterday. Now, in the past this leads to weeks of bad eating but I’m really trying to keep that from happening. I’m really trying to leave yesterday in the past and get BACK on track to another GREAT day to add to the 17 before yesterday. I really wish I could give you all my phone number so you could text me periodically throughout the day and say, “What’s up? Staying away from the honeybuns, right? Let’s just all keep our fingers crossed. I’ve been thinking a lot about whether or not we’re (“We” as in Humans) are capable of real change, and what institutes those successful changes. I’m hoping today is just a back-on-track day to help support that idea that I Can Change. I’m not stuck leaning on food as an emotional crutch forever. I want to see that sometimes I can cope with exhaustion and stress without turning to the kitchen for solace. FINGERS CROSSED!
